2026 Board Exams for Class 5 & 8 in Punjab

The Punjab government, through PECTA, has officially announced that board exams will be conducted for Class 5 and Class 8 in government schools for the 2025–26 academic session. This restores formal evaluation for early classes and ensures standardization of assessment.

Exam Schedule & Registration

  • Registration window: November 3 – November 15, 2025
  • Class 5 exam date: February 9, 2026
  • Class 8 exam dates: February 16 – February 24, 2026
  • Expected result date: March 31, 2026

These exams will be conducted by PECTA. Private schools will continue with their internal assessments.

8th Class Smart Syllabus

In December 2025, PECTA released a Smart Syllabus for Class 8 to reduce workload and focus on core concepts:

  • English: Units 2, 3, 8, and 9 removed
  • Urdu: 6 chapters out of 20 removed
  • Mathematics & Science: Certain topics simplified
  • Updated model papers and pairing schemes provided to match revised syllabus
  • Exams include MCQs (40 marks) and subjective questions (60 marks)
